Aluminium / Powder coated in Melbourne

Care and warranty

How to look after a powder coated aluminium piece, and what our five year structural warranty covers.

01

Looking after your piece

These instructions apply to every FEARON product, raw aluminium and powder coated alike. Powder coat is tough, but it is a decorative finish rather than armour. A few minutes of care every so often is the difference between a piece that looks new in ten years and one that does not.

02

Routine cleaning

Wash Warm soapy water and a mild detergent, using a soft cloth
Frequency Monthly for commercial, industrial or marine environments. Less often indoors
Rinse Always rinse thoroughly so no detergent is left on the surface
Dry Dry well immediately. Water left to sit will leave marks, and water marks are not covered under warranty

03

What to avoid

Never use Steam cleaning, pressure washing, abrasive cleansers, steel brushes or steel wool, or any cleaner containing chlorine
Solvents Turpentine, white spirits, thinners, citrus based cleaners and Spray and Wipe all shorten the life of a powder coated surface
Dry dusting Scratches the finish. Use a damp soft cloth instead
Build-up Do not let detritus, organic or man-made matter settle on the surface

04

Handling

Rough treatment chips powder coat, and chipping is not covered under warranty. Most FEARON products ship with protective fittings, stacking glides, bumpers and feet, which guard against chipping and scratching. Set pieces down gently rather than dragging or dropping them.

05

Five year structural warranty

FEARON warrants its products to be free of manufacturing or material defect affecting structural integrity for five years from the date of purchase, subject to the terms and claim procedure below.

You are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality. We cover the costs involved in repairing or replacing your product, but not transport or third party costs associated with the claim.

Nothing in this warranty limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

06

What the warranty does not cover

Mishandling Damage from mistreatment, abuse or lack of maintenance
Natural ageing General wear, tear and fading
Organic matter Damage from mineral deposits, soils, fertilisers or environmental mould
Weld joins Minor corrosion spots that do not affect structural integrity, a natural outcome of the materials
Harsh environments Corrosion from seafront, saline or chlorinated conditions
Finish variation Differences in colour, shade or gloss between production runs or separately purchased pieces
Change of heart Preferences change. The warranty does not cover it
Transport and labour Freight for replacement parts, and labour for repair, charged at FEARON's discretion
Storage Goods held in storage for any period, given the environmental extremes some facilities reach

These terms are accepted by the customer and end-user upon order and supply.

Aluminium and powder coat finishes

Powder coat is a decorative finish for indoor and outdoor use. It assists with metal protection but is not corrosion protection in its own right. Our aluminium components are treated with pre-protection that guards against corrosion before coating, which makes the surface resistant and suitable for exterior environments.

Minor corrosion spots at the weld joins, under table tops, bases and seat frames, may become evident over time. These do not affect structural integrity and are not covered by this warranty.

Our powder coat colours offer excellent UV stability and colour retention, and are suitable for outdoor applications. Natural fading is not covered. In harsh seafront, extreme or chlorinated environments, we cannot guarantee the finish against scratching, scuffing, chipping, fading or corrosion.

FEARON assumes no responsibility for damage caused by the use of furniture covers.

10

When the warranty does not apply
